Week one of my character design class is wrapping up. Tickity boo! Monsters are done, just awaiting feedback and the first Q&A. This week we are looking a silhouettes and drawing crusaders! Here's my first go at the crusader type character. This week I tried some of the things that Nate Wragg demonstrated during the weekly video, like keeping it greyscale, and the way some of the details are added in. We were supposed to be considering shape language as well and repeating the basic shape throughout the design, but we could push beyond the circle, square, triangle of last week. I chose an upside-down teardrop shape and then repeated it in the shield, weapon, helmet decoration and even teeth. I'm having a lot of fun with the class, it's forcing me to draw things I wouldn't normally draw in ways I wouldn't normally try, so I guess I'm learning!
